Key Kimono

Dress: Bailey 44 / Kimono: Amazon / Shoes: Report (similar) / Bag: Ross (similar)
There is something so lovely about having simple “go to” pieces that you can run out the door in, even when you’re running late. In summer, I tend to lean hard on simple cotton dresses that breath (thank you LA heatwave…), and this kimono is one of my favorite finds to date this summer! I purchased it as a beach cover up, but it pairs just as beautifully with shorts and a tank as well as over a variety of different dresses in my closet. It takes this simple cotton midi dress from casual, to ooh la la in a matter of seconds! Anyone else having a moment with kimonos too? Where are some of your favorite places to buy them from?

Stars and Stripes

I will take any excuse to dress in theme and run with it–Fourth of July is no exception!

Dress: A.L.C. / Clutch: Ross Dress for Less (Similar) / Shoes: Naturalizer (Similar)

When I rented this dress I did not have it in mind for the fourth–I’m typically at a backyard bbq rocking some cut-offs and bathing suit sipping a cold beer-=one of the few times I venture away from wine, I know *gasp*. However, once I put it on and started digging around in my closet (I keep all of my purses on a shelf in my closet and quite a few fell on my head from my laziness and unwillingness to get out the step stool) this bag quite literally smacked me in the face. After my initial shock of a bag falling on my head, I immediately ran outside after completing my happy dance to take these photos.

All DressedUp For Summer

There’s something so lovely about being able to throw on one piece and still make a statement. Though these dresses don’t have much in common I fell in love with both for their simple silhouettes and fun details. Both pieces can be dressed up or down depending on how they are styled, but for a hot summers day, all I plan on throwing on are some easy sandals or slides and some big cat eye sunglasses. How would you style these beauties?

Loving this modernized take on a denim skirt by Elizabeth and James!

Top: Nordstrom (similar) / Skirt: Elizabeth and James / Jacket: American Eagle Outfitters (Similar) / Shoes: Kenneth Cole Reaction / Bag: Amazon

I swore about 8 years ago when I was doing a closet cleanout that I would be saying sayonara to denim skirts for good. Fast forward, and I am happily eating my words! Whereas the skirt I am not so fondly remembering was ultra short, distressed and something out of the Mean Girls era, this pink version by Elizabeth and James feels nothing but modern and sophisticated, even when dressed down with a crop top and denim jacket. The buttons down the front add an eye-catching detail that is also elongating–something I adore given my short stature, and the belt helps cinch it in at just the right place. After discovering this piece I will be eating my words much more this summer and am looking forward to giving more denim skirts a try in the near future–stay tuned!

Feeling extra fresh and fruity in this Kate Spade jumpsuit! 🍍

Jumpsuit: Kate Spade New York / Shoes: Rock N Candy / Sunglasses: Banana Republic (similar)

Lately, I’ve been leaning hard into fruit or food patterned items. They feel extra summery and it doesn’t hurt that the little ones I take care of love them too. Children are inherently honest, so when they compliment your outfit you know it’s extra special! I love the hint of yellow and brown throughout this jumpsuit making it both something wearable for daytime as well as a piece I’m able to dress up by swapping my leather coat and sandals for heels and a blazer. It makes a statement without being in your face and was perfect for a Sunday afternoon spent lounging around my cousins for a backyard BBQ. You don’t get much more summery than that!
