Boogie Fever

Ever since I went disco dancing a few weekends back I have had Boogie Fever stuck in my head on repeat, with an itch to go back. As soon as I saw this jumpsuit I knew I had to have–could it not be more perfect?! The colorful print gives it that 70s retro vibe, and though I paired it down with simple black sandals to make it more appropriate for daytime wear, I plan on throwing on some sky high platforms to dance the night away (as soon as I have a free Saturday night again that is)!

This past weekend I celebrated my 30th birthday, and to celebrate I got together with those dearest to me and danced the night away (shout out to all my amazing friends and family who made the whole entire weekend absolutely magical! I decided after about 3 weeks of searching to keep my look simple with an LBD with sheer paneling by Parker and nude heels by Chinese Laundry. To bring in some color I added a little yellow bag and some rainbow sunglasses for some playful pops.

Comin’ In Red Hot

Jumpsuit: Jill Stuart / Shoes: Rock & Candy / Bracelet: Forever 21 (similar)

Red is not typically a color I embrace when it comes to my wardrobe, which is only surprising because it’s my favorite color. However, when I saw this jumpsuit by Jill Stuart I was immediately drawn in by the clean, sleek silhouette and bold color. While it would have paired beautifully with a matching bold lip and vibrant accessories, I decided to keep things simple and dress it down (slightly) for happy hour last week by keeping my hair and makeup minimal and let this beautiful piece do all the talking for me.

From ruffles to patchwork, to button details, these denim skirts are all a fresh take on an old classic. As I’ve said previously, I swore off denim skirts well over a decade ago, but these beauties have me eating my words and then some! I love the super 70’s vibes of the patchwork and the more professional take with longer midi lengths and ruffles. They pair perfectly with both a simple white tee or statement top. Anyone else loving this trend?

Sparkle & Shine

Sometimes a little sparkle is all you need.

To brighten up an otherwise subdued Tuesday evening I decided to whip out this sequin top which has been sitting in my closet for ages. It’s a piece that I love, but struggle with wearing mostly due to how fancy it typically feels. By pairing it with some extra shredded and loose boyfriend jeans it brought the top down from “evening out on the town” to “Happy Hour ready”. And although I wear these jeans and shoes all the time, the top made outfit feel that little bit extra special without being over the top. It was absolutely perfect for sitting on the patio at my local watering hole with some good friends and of course rosé!

Is there a print more quintessential to summer than gingham?

The Pattern of Summer

It brings to mind picnics in the park, movies after dark and chilled rose with friends. Or perhaps it just brings to mind those things I associate most with summer–which happens to be my favorite season! For the longest time I avoided this print thinking it “too busy” or “noisy” but now that I’ve tried it, I can’t seem to get enough. It works as both a neutral or as a fun pop to any outfit in both classic black and white, pastels, and bright reds.

Below I’ve rounded up some of my favorites:

Left to Right: Minkpink / Petersyn / Sail to Sable / Tibi

All A Flutter

I’m all aflutter for these ruffle sleeves (surprisingly)!

When it comes to ruffles I tend to steer clear of them. I’m talking miles and miles away. Potentially with an ocean in between. This could have something to do with the fact that as a child I went through a phase where I would only wear dresses. Even when I lived in Rochester, NY in the middle of winter (Sorry Mom!). And I’m not just talking dresses, I’m talking the frilliest, girliest, most floral abominations that would have been better relegated to bedspread than a piece of clothing. Nowadays, I avoid frilly, but after covering up these fun sleeves when I first wore this top, I decided to just embrace them and let the top be the star by pairing it with neutral bottoms and heels. While some could joke I look closer to a picnic table than a bedspread thanks to the gingham, I’m happy I fully embraced this top and played around. After all, my mission is to remix, rematch and step out of my comfort zone.
