Pastel Paradise

Dress: Slate & Willow / Coat: Althea / Boots: Gap / Purse: H&M

The mornings have been exceptionally cold and gloomy these past few days, so to combat that (and my need to match the sky apparently), I forced myself to turn away from all the greys and blacks in my wardrobe and embrace spring colors. I pulled out my favorite pastel pink coat, and threw on my favorite new booties. As another unexpected playful pop, I embraced my inner 90s child and added a string rainbow of hair clips across my head.

Let’s Talk Rainbows

From simple to vibrant, this trend is one that brings a smile to my face every time. During the winter months I tend to stick to pretty neutral colors, but as soon as the temperatures start to rise, my color palette becomes much more vibrant. I also love a good, kitschy item, so this trend is everything I love rolled into one. Whether it’s a simple necklace like the one above, or an all out rainbow striped dress, there’s a way to incorporate this trend in regardless of your style.
Below are some of the other rainbow items I’m currently loving:

1. These jeweled slides would look perfect with a concert tee and cut offs.

2. A colorful crocheted swimsuit perfect for frolicking in the sun.

3. The perfect date night dress.

4. This bag that would elevate even the most basic of outfits.

5. And the perfect tee to go with it.

Eye of the Tiger

Face to face, out in the heat

Hanging tough, stayin’ hungry

Jacket: Macy’s (similar)/ Dress: Milly / Boots: Sam Edelman (similar)

Every time I wear this bomber jacket I find myself humming “Eye of the Tiger” throughout the day. Considering it’s a song I associate with wonderful memories–dancing with rosé at sunset in Santorini to be specific, I definitely had an added pep in my step. With the little hints of yellow and red, I knew it would be work perfectly with this rainbow dress by Milly. To toughen up the look and balance it a bit I paired it with my tried and true Sam Edelman booties. I own (far) too many pairs of black booties (can you ever really have too many though?), but these are the ones I reach for most often–they’re a classic shape and beyond comfortable! Although I must confess my want for a pair of yellow mules increased ten fold after this outfit because while I love the booties with it, they would have been even better! Will definitely be looking to add a pair to my closet before the summer is through.

Trend Talk Tuesday

O

I am absolutely over the rainbow for this colorful trend–which is not something I ever thought I’d say! Whether you’re into a more subdued color palette or are ready to embrace the brighter pieces (or sequin ones) with open arms, there’s something for everybody! It’s not something just for littel kids anymore! Here are some of my favorite picks I’ve found over the last week. I will definitely be rocking this trend all summer long. Will you?

Mint Condition

This dress combines all my favorite spring trends into one fantastic piece!

Dress: Saylor / Jacket: Old Navy / Shoes: Steve Madden / Purse: Like Dreams (similar)

What happens when you combine stripes, mint and bright colorful embroidery? You get one very happy girl, that’s what! I knew as soon as I saw this dress that I had to wear it. When it comes to trends I tend to stick with pieces that only incorporate one at a time. This piece manages to balance multiple trends (the mint, the barely-there stripes and brightly colored embroidery that’s almost rainbow)  in just the right way without being too much. It was absolutely perfect for an evening spent sipping rosé on the patio counting down the days til summer is officially here.

Color Me Rainbow

It may not “officially” be summer, but this dress sure makes it feel like it is!

Dress: Milly/ Jacket: Max Studio (Similar)/ Shoes: Kenneth Cole Reaction/ Earrings: H&M (Similar)

To distract myself from the lovely summer cold I came down with last week I tossed this dress on a number of times (don’t judge, I was sick) to try and trick my mind and body into feeling better. By the time I took these photos, it was starting to work. Nothing makes me smile more than rainbows (well, maybe kittens) and I fully intend to be decked out in rainbows of some form all summer long.

Next Up

In a complete 180 from my last order, I am embracing bolder colors and prints. Each one of these pieces is a bit out of my comfort zone, but because of that, I’m so excited to give them a whirl! I love bright cobalt and ruffles of the first dress when I ordered with a girlfriends birthday celebration in mind–I immediately pictured myself dancing the night away (I’m much more coordinated in my imagination it seems)! I’ve also been eyeing this rainbow beauty for quite some time and finally decided to bite the bullet and give it a try this weekend. It’s perfect for a brunch out with the boy on Sunday morning. And lastly, I was super intrigued by this gingham number. Gingham is something I have loved on others for a while, but have never embraced it on myself. I’m looking forward to styling this top up a few different ways for happy hour and beyond.
