Make a Statement

Jacket: Veda / Top: Daydreamer / Jeans: Gap / Boots: Topshop / Sunglasses: Diff via FabFitFun
I love that this jacket dresses up a simple tank top and jeans, and makes it a standout, effortlessly cool outfit. When paired with magenta snakeprint boots, it adds a flair of rebelliousness without feeling like I’m trying too hard. Classic jackets are what I’ve been focused on adding to my closet this last year, but I’d be lying if I said this Veda one didn’t have me questioning whether I need a few good, flashy statement ones too.

An outfit can be combined of the simplest pieces, but when you start adding in fun textures such as leather and velvet, it immediately feels more elevated. I have always been a very tactile person, and this very much effects the clothes I put in my wardrobe. I want textures that I will enjoy wearing, and feel my best and most confident in. The dark florals of the pants felt very appropriate and romantic for a fall day, but the silky material made them appropriate for an LA fall day. I was uninspired with tops until I began browsing my closet and rediscovered this purple velvet tank I thrifted ages ago. It created a unique look that left me feeling both pulled together and on trend.

Of all the fall trends making their debut animal print has to be my favorite so far. I love that designers have branched out from the ever so popular leopard print to more daring ones like tiger stripes, snakeskin, and even zebra print. To ease myself into the trend I chose to give this leather Veda jacket a whirl, and have since been inspired to search for a pair of snakeskin booties for when the temps drop even more. What’s your favorite version of this fall trend so far?

Remix Rematch

A black moto jacket is a piece that can elevate even the simplest outfit.

black moto jacket

A black leather jacket it a closet staple that I feel every woman (and man) should own. It’s an item that will never go out of style and can be worn a million different ways–as proof from the photos above. It’s a piece that can elevate the simplest of outfits (i.e. a white t-shirt and jeans) from ‘blah’ to cool-girl chic. Whether you’re looking for something with faux leather or real, fun details or one more streamlined, remember it’s all about fit! If you’re looking for a piece to really invest in, make sure that you absolutely love it before dropping the dough, but I guarantee if you do, you’ll reach for it time and time again!

May Flowers

If this Ali & Jay dress doesn’t scream spring then I don’t know what does!

Dress: Ali & Jay/ Jacket: Cupcakes and Cashmere/ Booties: Qupid (Similar)

As soon as I saw this beautiful floral dress on Rent The Runway I knew I had to wear it for Mother’s Day brunch! It was fluttery and ethereal without being too over the top and hid my food baby beautifully! To tone down the super feminine nature of the outfit I paired it with the Cupcakes and Cashmere leather jacket that I’ve been living in the last few weeks (I finally parted ways with it this morning since I found myself falling into old habits and not mixing things up more) along with some booties that have been buried on the top shelf of my closet for some time. It turned out to be the perfect outfit for the perfect day–I spent the day celebrating the moms in my life with brunch, coffee and then spent a lovely afternoon catching up with girlfriends over wine and cheese. It doesn’t get much better than that! I hope all you Mom’s out there had a spectacular day and weekend as well!

Blue Lace Cami

Lace camis are a closet staple that I can’t live without!

Top: Goldhawk Clothing (Similar) / Pants: Minkpink / Jacket: Cupcakes and Cashmere/ Shoes: Bandolino (similar) / Necklace: Cost Plus World Market

Along with good denim, I believe that you can never have too many camisoles. They are the simplest way to elevate an outfit or even loungewear. I have a collection that spans many different colors and brands, but the one featured about was a gift from a girlfriend last year from the Goldhawk sample sale (she turned me onto the brand when she used to work there and it’s been my favorite for years). The silk and lace are perfect for adding a little extra something when you just want to wear jeans but want to add a bit of pizazz. I love layering them under a good leather jacket to play with the textures and style of the outfit–I don’t tend to like overly feminine looks. I also decided that it was too perfect to pair with these Minkpink jeans (last seen here) for an outfit remix before I part ways with them (although I’m still tempted to buy them).

Baby Blues

This baby blue Cupcakes and Cashmere leather jacket is perfect for spring and beyond.

Jacket: Cupcakes and Cashmere/ Top: Lulus/ Pants: Elizabeth and James

Every spring my leather jackets seem to get tucked away in the back of my closet until colder months are once again here. When I saw this one on Rent The Runway I knew I had to wear it and immediately started bookmarking pieces both online and in my own closet to pair it with (It’s still quite chilly in the mornings and evenings here, plus I’m a weather wimp who loves a good jacket). It paired beautifully with these wide leg Elizabeth and James pants as well as with the floral dress I wore earlier on the week. It’s a truly versatile piece and the light blue shade a refreshing change from the darker leather jackets I own. It’s a fresh take in a classic cut that can be dressed up or down and worn in many ways. It’s turned out to be one of my favorite pieces I’ve rented so far.
