Star of the Show

Dress: Tara Jarmon / Boots: Circus by Sam Edelman / Purse: See by Chloe

Ever since falling in love with this Scotch & Soda dress I’ve been trying more and more long sleeve styles. It’s something that never used to be on my radar, but I immediately fell in love with all the dainty details on this Tara Jarmon dress and definitely see my star prints in my future. I love the structure of the puff sleeves and shoulders—it’s a good way to ease into the playful style without completely going all in—the last time I went all in let’s just say it’s a good thing I had a charming personality and was 4! My penchant for dainty details has faded over the years, but I’m learning to embrace it once again thanks to pieces like this one.

Power to the Paisley

Coat: H&M [remixed] / Dress: Scotch & Soda / Booties: Simply Vera by Vera Wang / Bag: Steve Madden

To be honest, paisley isn’t really my thing in general. I think the last time I wore this type of print was circa 1996. But, after falling in love with this Scotch & Soda dress, I decided I wanted to try a few more styles out from the brand. The pastel print on black background made it seasonally appropriate, without being overly feminine with its puff sleeves, and to tone it down even further (and stay warm) I decided to wear my new favorite coat once again.

Baby, It’s (finally) Cold Outside

Sweater: H&M (similar here) / Dress: Scotch & Soda / Boots: Simply Vera by Vera Wang (similar here) / Purse: Julie K (similar here)/ Sunglasses: 99 Cent Store (I’m a sucker for cheap sunglasses)

Now that the temperature is finally dropping in LA I’ve begun pulling out more and more of my winter wardrobe. Unfortunately, you never know when it will decide to jump up to 75+ again, so to combat that I’ve been playing around with layers. This burgundy turtleneck sweater paired perfectly with this Scotch & Soda dress I featured last week. It managed to turn it into a completely different look which I love! I’ll definitely be playing around more with oversized sweaters over dresses in the future!

Welcome to the Jungle

Dress: Scotch & Soda / Boots: Simply Vera (similar here) / Purse: Vintage HLC / Sunglasses: Lucky Brand (similar here)
If you haven’t noticed I’m a sucker for a fun print, so naturally I was drawn to this Scotch & Soda dress. The ruffles and print keep it young and current, without being completely over the top. I absolutely love the hidden creatures (look closely) camouflaged just subtley enough in the jungle print that it doesn’t come off as juvenile. To counteract the femininity I paired it with some taupe booties instead of flats or mules and whipped out an old HLC bag that was gifted to me a while back. Overall, it’s an outfit that feels perfect to fight my way through the urban jungle later to go rock the vote! ✌🏻

Thirty, Flirty & Thriving

Dress: Parker / Shoes: Chinese Laundry (similar) / Bag: Like Dreams (similar)

This past weekend I celebrated my 30th birthday, and to celebrate I got together with those dearest to me and danced the night away (shout out to all my amazing friends and family who made the whole entire weekend absolutely magical! I decided after about 3 weeks of searching to keep my look simple with an LBD with sheer paneling by Parker and nude heels by Chinese Laundry. To bring in some color I added a little yellow bag and some rainbow sunglasses for some playful pops.

Buttoned Up/Buttoned Down

Dress: B.B. Dakota / Shoes: Chinese Laundry (similar)/ Clutch: Ross Dress For Less / Sunglasses: Wildfox

Maybe it’s because I simply love denim and how easy it is to dress up or down, but there is something about this BB Dakota dress that has me completely head over heels! Well, quite a few somethings to be honest. It’s one of those rare pieces that fit me like a glove and I can’t find one single thing I dislike about it. The material, the cut, the length, the buttons down the front, even the little pockets in the front all combine to make the perfect dress! Not since those Minkpink jeans have I been so tempted to cheat on my little challenge and splurge–my 30th birthday is coming up…does it count as cheating if I buy it as a birthday gift to myself?

Key Kimono

Dress: Bailey 44 / Kimono: Amazon / Shoes: Report (similar) / Bag: Ross (similar)
There is something so lovely about having simple “go to” pieces that you can run out the door in, even when you’re running late. In summer, I tend to lean hard on simple cotton dresses that breath (thank you LA heatwave…), and this kimono is one of my favorite finds to date this summer! I purchased it as a beach cover up, but it pairs just as beautifully with shorts and a tank as well as over a variety of different dresses in my closet. It takes this simple cotton midi dress from casual, to ooh la la in a matter of seconds! Anyone else having a moment with kimonos too? Where are some of your favorite places to buy them from?
