I have always loved the style of the 60s and 70s, but am especially loving the bright colored bell bottoms and more structured pieces I have been seeing as of late. They feel both like a nod to the era of peace, love, and Aquarius, while also feeling appropriate and modern for summer. Yellow isn’t a color I wear too often (although I have been on the hunt for a pair of mustard mules the last few months), but as soon as I saw these bright yellow jeans I knew I had to give them a spin. And to change it up, instead of hunting down another denim skirt, although there are many on my list to try, this BB Dakota dress has all the things I love (buttons all down the front, a structured fit, natural blue wash), while being at least a little different from the pieces I’ve been wearing recently. I absolutely can not wait to style these two beauties up while rocking out to some of my favorite oldies!

All DressedUp For Summer

There’s something so lovely about being able to throw on one piece and still make a statement. Though these dresses don’t have much in common I fell in love with both for their simple silhouettes and fun details. Both pieces can be dressed up or down depending on how they are styled, but for a hot summers day, all I plan on throwing on are some easy sandals or slides and some big cat eye sunglasses. How would you style these beauties?

In a complete 180 from my last order, I am embracing bolder colors and prints. Each one of these pieces is a bit out of my comfort zone, but because of that, I’m so excited to give them a whirl! I love bright cobalt and ruffles of the first dress when I ordered with a girlfriends birthday celebration in mind–I immediately pictured myself dancing the night away (I’m much more coordinated in my imagination it seems)! I’ve also been eyeing this rainbow beauty for quite some time and finally decided to bite the bullet and give it a try this weekend. It’s perfect for a brunch out with the boy on Sunday morning. And lastly, I was super intrigued by this gingham number. Gingham is something I have loved on others for a while, but have never embraced it on myself. I’m looking forward to styling this top up a few different ways for happy hour and beyond.

When the weather starts warming up I immediately start shifting towards lighter more breathable colors. I love the casual cut of the jeans, while the embroidery dresses them up slightly and plan on wearing them with both the patterned tank top above as well as a simple white t-shirt. They’ll go just as well with flip flops as they will with little kitten heels.  As for the jumpsuit, that was more of an unplanned rental (I tend to steer away from white because it doesn’t stay that color long in my presence), but couldn’t resist this one. I love everything from the sweet bow to the cutout and cropped wide-leg design. Now I just need to figure out where to drag the boy so that I can show it off. Any suggestions?

Spring is (finally) in the air!

And I intend to embrace it fully! So for this weeks RTR order I went with easy, flowy pieces and light colors in a similar color scheme so that I can mix and match all the pieces. I love the slightly muted tones in the dress and plan on wearing both jackets over it as well as with the chambray pants–it’s like its own mini capsule collection! Can you tell I’m excited? What are your favorite things to wear when the weather gets warmer and days are longer?

A slight variation from my usual picks.

Like I mentioned in my previous post this weeks schedule is a bit more hectic than usual and filled with events that I need to dress up for. Since I’m not the most decisive person I went with three different gowns in the hopes that two out of the three will work. That being said, I have plenty of back up options on my (slightly overflowing) closet.

Digging on some more casual pieces with retro vibes and funky details.

When it comes to jumpsuits I tend to veer toward the dressier ones, so I’m excited to jump out of my comfort zone and give this casual linen one a spin.

I’m a sucker for a good paper bag waist and the grommet details on these bad boys sealed the deal!

And last but not least these awesome cropped bell bottoms to add some variety since my denim collection mainly consists of skinny and boyfriend jeans.

Excited to style up all these babies! Anyone got any suggestions?

I’m clearly on a stripe kick and I’m not mad about it!

I love the playfulness of a good stripe and while I grew up being warned (“stripes can make you look bigger, be careful!”) to wear them with caution, I’ve always loved them!

I plan on rocking the bomber below with both the skirt and dress as well as seeing how many fun ways I can mix all these items up with classic pieces from my own closet (like my trusty leather jacket and red booties).

Which of these is your favorite? Mine keeps changing!

So excited for my next two items!

I’ve been eyeing this Jason Wu Grey sweater for a bit now (it hasn’t officially shipped so fingers crossed they still have it in stock—I’ve learned to worry when there’s a delay).

I love the playful pattern and the colors will make it so easy to pair with quite a few items I already have in my closet.

This dress wasn’t on my radar as long as the sweater above, but after my last order I realized that maybe I should try my hand at ordering pieces that I can wear to work.

That red dress from last week is gorgeous and fits like a glove but is a little too over the top and I’ve been struggling in my attempts to find a place to wear it.

This dress can be dressed up and down and hits in all the right places.

The zippers add a bit of edge and the glitter adds a bit of glam—two things that make this girl very happy indeed.

And who doesn’t love afun swingy skirt?

Hope everyone is having a good week so far.

And to those on the east coast dealing with that storm (my sis is one of them)—stay safe and warm!

Apologies for my unexpected hiatus. I took an inadvertent trip to sick town, but am happy to report that I am feeling much, much better!

So here we go!

Another week, another round of items.

Cupcakes and Cashmere dress:

I love the stripes and length of this piece. It’s playful and sporty and I plan to pair it with either sandals or booties this week depending on the weather.

Rebecca Minkoff coat:

I’m always a sucker for a good coat.
I had attempted to order this last week but it was booted from my order last minute (as was the dress below) due to availability. I’m stubborn though and decided to give both pieces another try and am happy to report they made it through to shipment this time!

I love the faux fur pink color on this coat and plan on trying to wear it in as many ways as possible.

Jill Stuart dress:

I love everything from the cut to the color combo, and have been trying to order this dress for a bit now (guess everyone was also coveting it for Valentine’s Day). It’s sleek while style being playful and bold.

Red is still having its power moment and while magenta’s were big on the runways, red and pink were also sharing in the glory.

How would you style these pieces?
