Heatwave White

A little white dress is the perfect way to embrace warmer temps and summer just around the corner.

Dress: Madewell / Hat:  / Boots: Gap / Clutch: Elizabeth Arden
Spring is in full spring and it’s starting to feel more and more like summers right around the corner—and nothing screams summer to me more than a little white dress. I piled on accessories that I’d want to wear to the beach or to brunch, and though I wear this dress all the time, it felt fresh and new. I look forward to wearing it all summer long, both as a coverup at the beach and even out to dinner and drinks swapping my flip flops for some strappy heels and a mini structured bag.

Zoodon Soup

Faux Udon loaded with vegetables and zoodles for a quick, healthy meal.

If I had to pick one cuisine as my favorite, no holds barred it would be Japanese. From sushi to ramen to onigiri to udon—I love it all!

That being said doordashing lunch adds up quickly! So I decided to try my hand at a mock version of one of my favorite meals, and thanks to Trader Joe’s it was possible! All ingredients (minus the fishcake) were purchased day of, but you could easily sub the fishcake with tofu and prep ingredient ahead if you find it cheaper and have the time.

Ingredients:

  • Miso Ginger Broth
  • Zoodles
  • Sliced Crimini Mushrooms
  • Shredded Cabbage & Carrots
  • Kamaboko aka fishcake (or sub tofu)
  • Green Onion
  • Frozen Shrimp Tempura

Directions:

  1. Pop frozen shrimp tempura into oven per package directions.
  2. Bring broth to a boil.
  3. Add mushrooms, cabbage, carrots and any other vegetables you would like to (except zoodles) add and boil until they’ve reached preferred texture. I prefer mine a little crunchier so I don’t boil for very long. Maybe a minute.
  4. Put desired amount of zoodles into bowl you will be eating from.
  5. Pour broth and vegetables over zoodles and let sit for about 1-2 minutes.
  6. Top with kamaboko, green onion and serve with shrimp tempura.

Beige on Beige

There’s no denying that beige on beige is one of the hottest trends of the season, but also one of the few I was hesitant to try.

Sweater: Urban Outfitters / Pants: H&M / Shoes: Steve Madden / Bracelet: Forever21

It’s been popping up for months on feeds and in fashion articles, but it wasn’t until i was scrolling my own actual closet that I even consider trying it out for myself. When I think monochromatic dressing my first instinct is to reach for blacks, greys, whites or even dramatic colors.

Beige is a color that for whatever reason seems to get a bland rap. However, as the runways have proven (at least to me) when paired all together it creates a classic look that still has an easy casual vibe that says, “I just threw this one before running out the door”.

Will this be my go to color from now on? No, but I will definitely be reaching for it way more often now!

Let’s Talk Pearls

Let’s discuss!

Pearls have been popping up for quite a while both on the runways and social media feeds, but in recent months they seem to have had an increased surge.

Now I for one am fully on board with this trend, especially in the form of hair clips. It adds an unexpected elegance and playfulness to even the simplest of outfits, and I plan on adding more to my collection.

In my opinion pearls are here to stay and I’m all for it! Below are some of the other pieces I’ve got my eye on currently:

A simple, yet chic statement bag

These slides that would pair just as well with cutoffs, as with a floaty summer dress

This sweater with just the right amount of embellishment

Statement jeans I never knew I needed before now

I would love to hear–do you love this trend too?

Taking a Moment

Mixing it up this spring with a shorter cut and different color, and doing a different kind of spring cleaning.

Blazer: Target / Top: Ross / Jeans: H&M / Shoes: Kenneth Cole Reaction / Purse: Furla

After many many weeks of constantly overbooked weekends, I decided it was high time to tackle the monstrosity that my roots had become. It wasn’t until I was leaving the salon feeling like a million bucks, that I realized how much I’d needed to just set aside some me time. It’s so easy to say yes to plans when they are all something I want to do, but I’m slowly discovering just how important it is to slow down and schedule in days where there’s either pampering to be done, or absolutely nothing at all. Consider this my own unique way of spring cleaning—cleaning up my schedule.

Happy Monday everyone!

Feelin’ the Green

I love how throwing on a loose sweater over a dress can completely change the look and feel of an outfit.

Sweater: H&M / Dress: C/MEO Collective / Boots: Zara / Purse: Prada
Recently I’ve really leaned in to getting more use and wear out of even the simplest of items. This dress when paired with my camel coat and the same boots was perfectly elegant and chic for a date night, but wanted to make it more daytime appropriate. It’s a bit on the lower cut side, and all that white is asking for disaster when you combine it clutziness with toddler hands, so I figured why not try and cover some of it up? It completely changed the look exactly how I wanted it to and I’m happy to report that the dress is still (miraculously) white!
